Nebraska Legislature 2011: Key Dates

January 6 through January 19, Bill  Introduction  

January 6  
Convene  at  10:00  a.m.  for  bill  introduction  
Recess  at  noon  until  1:30  p.m.  for  Inaugural  Ceremonies  for  State  and  Constitutional  Officers  and  adjourn  mid-­‐afternoon  following  ceremonies  

January 7, 10 and 11  
Convene  at  10:00  a.m.  and  adjourn  by  noon  or  when  introduced  bills  have  been processed  by  the  Clerk’s  office  

January 12  
Convene  at  9:00  a.m.  and  debate  motion  to  adopt  permanent  rules  
Bill  introduction  
May  work  through  lunch  hour  dependent  upon  progress  of  rules  debate  

 
January 13  
Convene  at  9:30  a.m.  
Governor’s State of the State Address and  introduction  of his  budget  bills at 10 a.m.

Adjourn  by  noon  or  when  introduced  bills  have  been  processed  by  the  Clerk’s  office

Speaker’s  office  will  begin  accepting  senator  and  committee  priority  designations  and  requests  for  speaker  priority  designations

Deadline  for  Appropriations  Committee’s  Preliminary  Budget  Report  

March 9, Prior to Adjournment  
Deadline  to  submit  a  letter  to  the  Speaker  requesting  designation  of  a  bill  as  a  2011  speaker  priority  bill

Deadline  for  designation of  committee  and senator  priority bills

Last  Day  of  Committee  Hearings

The  Legislature  will  begin  the  first  day  of  the  work  week  at  10  a.m.,  unless  otherwise  announced.  The  remaining  days  of  the  week  the  Legislature  will  convene  session  at  9  a.m.
